How to Pay for College

Everyone should be able to go to college. Money should not be what stops people from applying and attending school. There are many ways that students can get money to pay for college including financial aid such as FAFSA, scholarships or installment loans. Many people don’t realize that getting money from the government is not impossible and should be looked into by everyone wanting to go to college.

Financial Aid and FAFSA

FAFSA, or Free Application for Student Aid, is a form which is filled out by students desiring to have the government help them pay for higher education. It is a form which the student fills out annually in the United States to determine how much money the government believes they are eligible to receive. Money given through FAFSA is on a need-based status.

Scholarships

Another way to get money to pay for school is by getting scholarships. A scholarship is a financial aid award given to students for college. Scholarships can be merit-based, which are awarded based on academic, artistic, athletic, or other abilities. Scholarships can be need-based; meaning the amount of money given is decided by need. Scholarships can also be career or student-specific.

Paying for school should not be the only reason which stops people from attending college and furthering their education. There are many ways which students who have the desire to go to college can pay for school. FAFSA and other scholarships help students pay for college including the cost of tuition, room and board, textbooks, and other supplies.
